I was honored to partner with the RISD Nature Lab for a 4-part series called “Common Thread.”
The four conversations explored the commonalities within regional systems (Massachusetts and Rhode Island) tied to land, waste, material, and color and how they can intersect with various modes of thought to drive positive change.
The conversation was moderated by me through the lens of the Southeastern New England Fibershed (of which I am Co-Founder) alongside RISD Nature Lab’s Operations and Engagement Coordinator Dora Mugerwa. The 4-week conversation built a base for an 8-part conversation, “Regeneration: A Virtual Series,” taking place now and focusing on international issues around regeneration and the BIPOC community.
Taking place from October 2020 — May 2021, this online speaker event will explore diverse perspectives on how making can integrate with natural, cultural, and social systems in a way that influences creative practices for the benefit of communities and the planet. One of the main goals of this series is to focus on the voices that drive and lead many of the equitable and environmental movements, but that still tend to not be seen or included in the advertised discussions and innovations around sustainable making, climate change, community development, and more.
